The Building and Housing Department of Warrensville Heights is very
proud of the residential and business components of our community.
All residents and businesses are encouraged to maintain a clean,
healthy, and safe environment. The Housing and Building Department
is responsible for inspections and assuring the proper maintenance
and enforcement of code ordinances in Warrensville Heights. The purpose of the Housing and
Maintenance of Property codes is to establish minimum standards
necessary to make all dwellings fit for human habitation and beneficial
to public welfare. In general, this means all exterior and interior
areas must be in good repair and capable of performing the function
for which they were intended. All areas must be free of fire hazards
and sources which may breed insects, vermin or rodents; free of
litter and debris, peeling or blistering pain, deteriorated gutters
and downspouts, cracked and broken driveways and sidewalks, deteriorated
windows and doors. Today, the City of Warrensville
Heights has over 1,000 codified ordinances in effect for the safety
and welfare of the community and it’s resident. The Building
Department is certified by the State of Ohio and is charged with
enforcement of the Ohio Building Code, OBOA 1 and 2 Family Dwelling
Codes and ICC International Property Maintenance Code. This division
also handles the licensing of general, electrical, plumbing and
heating and air conditioning contractors. Planning meets on the 1st
Monday of every month
Board of Zoning and Appeals (BZA) meets the last Thursday
of every month.
