POLICE STANDOFF AND APARTMENT FIRE IN MILES LANDING

 

Warrensville Heights, OH Warrensville Heights police were notified at 1:25 p.m. this afternoon that an armed male suspect barricaded himself inside his apartment at 4907 Banbury Unit 12 threatening to possibly harm himself and others. WHPD requested the assistance of Valley Enforcement Group (VEG – Tactical Team) to resolve the issue. Male suspect set a fire to second floor unit 12 at around 3 p.m. before being apprehended by the VEG tactical team and taken into custody.

 The Warrensville Heights Police Department assisted the Warrensville Heights Fire Department in evacuating residents of 4907 Banbury, and is working to contain the fire. The American Red Cross was notified at 5:05 p.m. to assist the displaced residents. No known injuries at this time.

 WH Fire Dept. is working to contain fire in Miles Landing. Displaced residents can come to the Civic & Senior Center (4567 Green Road) for food, water, and support in collaboration with the American Red Cross. For more information, see cityofwarrensville.com.
