The Building and Housing Department of Warrensville Heights is very proud of the residential and business components of our community. All residents and businesses are encouraged to maintain a clean, healthy, and safe environment. The Housing and Building Department is responsible for inspections and assuring the proper maintenance and enforcement of code ordinances in Warrensville Heights.
The purpose of the Housing and Maintenance of Property codes is to establish minimum standards necessary to make all dwellings fit for human habitation and beneficial to public welfare. In general, this means all exterior and interior areas must be in good repair and capable of performing the function for which they were intended. All areas must be free of fire hazards and sources which may breed insects, vermin or rodents; free of litter and debris, peeling or blistering pain, deteriorated gutters and downspouts, cracked and broken driveways and sidewalks, deteriorated windows and doors.
Today, the City of Warrensville Heights has over 1,000 codified ordinances in effect for the safety and welfare of the community and it’s resident. The Building Department is certified by the State of Ohio and is charged with enforcement of the Ohio Building Code, Residential Code of Ohio and ICC International Property Maintenance Code. This division also handles the licensing of general,
electrical, plumbing and heating and air conditioning contractors.
