Safety Tips
- Protect your Life – Never attempt to fight a fire yourself. If you see a fire in your home call 9-1-1 immediately.
- Smoke Detectors – Is the most important thing when it comes to surviving a fire. Smoke can fill a room in seconds and smoke detectors provide the early warning needed to escape a home fire.
- Place a smoke detector on every level of your house and one outside each bed room.
- Place a smoke detector inside of each bedroom where you sleep with the door closed.
- Change batteries when you change your clocks in the spring and fall.
- Test smoke detectors once a month.
- Install smoke detectors in accordance with manufacturers.
- Home Emergency Evacuation Plan – If you don’t have one, sat down with your family members and develop an escape plan in the event of an emergency. Practice the escape plan and remember, NEVER RE-ENTER THE BUILDING. Leave first, and then call
9-1-1 from a neighbor’s house or a cell phone.
