Smoke Detector Program
Protect your home and love ones from Home Fires. Install smoke detectors outside all sleeping areas and on all levels of your home. In recognizing that a working smoke alarm doubles the chance of surviving a fire in the home, the Warrensville Fire Department will provide (one) smoke detector available for residents. The following criterion is required to receive one (1) free smoke detector from the program.
- Recipient must be a resident of Warrensville Heights and must occupy the dwelling.
- A one-time battery replacement is available.
- A photo ID and current utility bill must be presented along with your application.
- Renters cannot obtain a smoke detector. This is the responsibility of their landlord.
- Smoke detectors will be issued first to those 55 years and older. All others will be issued on a first come first served basis.
Remember that Fire-related deaths are three times likely from smoke inhalation or toxic gases than from heat in a typical home fire, you have only two minutes to escape from the house. Smoke detectors will increase your changes of surviving a fire. Let’s all be safe, and install smoke detectors throughout the home.
