Exterior Maintenance Grant Program Returns Monday, April 4
Due to the overwhelming success of the 2015 Exterior Maintenance Grant Program, this spring, the City of Warrensville Heights will resume funding to encourage homeowners to invest in their properties beginning Monday, April 4.
Last year, more than $30,000 in project reimbursements was granted to twenty-seven Warrensville Heights homeowners, including driveway repairs, apron replacements, gutter replacements, and painting. The Exterior Maintenance Grant Program provides grants to assist with improvements to the exterior of their homes and is available to eligible homeowners of single family owner-occupied houses and condominiums.
A homeowner must be cited with code violations from the City’s Building Department to become eligible. Once cited the homeowner must complete an application in order to have funds allocated for their project. Grant funds are issues in the form of a reimbursement once the project and final inspection are completed. This is a citywide program with limited funds. Grants will be encumbered on a first come first served basis until all funds have been allocated.
The maximum grant amount for structural repairs is 40%, up to $1,400, of the total project cost for eligible improvements. Structural repairs are any improvements made to the house or garage such as painting, replacement of gutters and loose shingles, and repairs to porches, doors, and windows. The maximum grant amount for driveway or service walkway repairs is 50%, up to $1,500, of the total project cost for eligible improvements. A project cannot include both structural and driveway/service walkway repairs.
