Warrensville Heights Receives County Grant
The Cuyahoga County Department of Development awarded the City of Warrensville Heights a $150,000 Municipal Grant to replace the streetlights in the Clarkwood Neighborhood. The Department of Development receives funding for the grants from the Federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. Fifty-one of the fifty-nine communities in Cuyahoga County are eligible to apply for the grants. This year seven grants were awarded.
Funding for the Streetlight Replacement Project will allow the City to replace all of the lights on Clarkwood Parkway from Northfield Rd. to Emery Rd. Lights will also be replaced on Granada Blvd. from Clarkwood Blvd. to Green Rd. The current lights, originally installed in the 1970’s, provide insufficient illumination in this highly active area. Several of the lights have damaged light coverings, broken lighting mechanisms or the poles are down.
The current lights and poles will be replaced with new aluminum poles and energy efficient LED street lights. The project will be completed in a sequenced manner, as to assure the residents that the area will not affected by down service for any period of time. The project is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2014.
